Is it close?

The honest walk from each Aurion® hotel to every gate of Masjid an-Nabawi, on real footpaths, and when to leave for Jumu'ah.

On foot

The walk to every gate

Not a short walk, honestly.

From AsSalaam, the nearest way in is Bab as-Salam (Gate 1): 62 min on foot, 4.6 km on real footpaths. By car it is about 7 min without traffic.

Walks from OpenStreetMap's foot routing (checked 4 November 2026), at an easy pace and without crowds. Gate pins from OpenStreetMap. Driving time without traffic; around prayer times allow longer.

Jumu'ah

When to leave on Friday

That Friday's Dhuhr, minus the 62 min walk to Bab as-Salam (Gate 1), minus 45 min for the crowd.

The 45 minutes are our suggestion, not a rule of the mosque. Times are worked out with the Umm al-Qura method; the mosque's adhan is the final word.

If the mosque is full

The courtyards are prayer space

Courtyards on the north, west and south sides, about 235,000 m² under 250 opening canopies, hold about 450,000 worshippers.

The roof opens on busy days

About 67,000 m², reached by 24 staircases near the entrances and six escalators. In Ramadan 2024 it was prepared for about 90,000 worshippers a day.

Staff spread people across the gates

On Friday 17 December 2021, more than 242 gate staff directed worshippers to open areas and spread them across the doors: 190,638 prayed in the courtyards and 29,755 on the roof.

Keep the walkways clear

Sitting or praying in the walkways is not allowed, so that everyone can reach a place to pray.

We have not found a reliable source on which gates fill first, so we don't guess: follow the staff at the gates.
